Hello Poston Families,
We are excited for our upcoming year. There are so many new possibilities for students at Poston. Our staff recently returned to the office, and we are gearing up for the excitement. We want to communicate a few items of information that will help you as you prepare for the upcoming year.
Schedules:
Students and parents will be able to view class schedules through the Student/Parent Portal beginning 7/25. Our counselors answer and handle all scheduling issues. They will not be back on contract until 7/28. If you need to contact them about your child’s schedule or other questions, it is best to email them. Your child’s counselor is assigned based on your child’s last name.
(A-G) Mr. Fowler at mdfowler@mpsaz.org
(H-O) Ms. Cyr at acyr@mpsaz.org
(P-Z) Ms. Davlia at sldavila@mpsaz.org
Please keep the following in mind when looking at your student’s schedule:
- Students were scheduled into classes based on their elective choices. Please keep in mind that staffing decisions were made in February based on student elective choices and so we cannot honor “changes of mind” with regards to elective classes.
- Lunches are assigned based on your child’s 4th and 5th period class. Therefore, changes cannot be made to the lunch your child has.
- Each student should have a four core classes (Math, English, Science, and Social Studies) along with a lunch and 3 other classes.
- Students may have been placed in a Reading Intervention class or a Math Intervention class based on individual student achievement, data, and teacher recommendation. We strongly recommend that they stay in those assigned classes to best prepare them for high school.
- Students who participate in our new Poston Create learning environment will not have that notated on their schedule, but you will see a pattern of ELA, Science, and Social Studies classes and teachers blocked together for three periods. Either:
- Periods 2,3,4 (Lyall, Scholz, and Wagner) or
- Periods 5,6,7 (Zuege, Bloom, and Lefevre)
- If you have questions or concerns, email your child’s counselor.

BTS Shopping Information
- Dress and Grooming Guidelines – we reinforce MPS Dress and Grooming Guidelines. Please review when purchasing school clothes.
- School Supplies – check out this link for general school supplies. Keep in mind that students may need class specific supplies. Teachers will communicate that in the first week of school.
- Device Protection Plan – all students will be issued a school owned laptop. We strongly encourage the purchase of a device protection plan. This will eliminate paying full price for repairs if your student’s computer is damaged. Students are responsible for the condition of their computer. This can be purchased online or at our bookstore.
- Elective Class Expenses – Many of our elective classes have expenses that we ask families to pay into. These expenses cover art supplies, music, student building materials that are often “one-time” use supplies. Please review your student’s schedule and check to see if there is a “voluntary material donation” associated with your student’s classes. You can pay and check for these expenses online or at our bookstore.
- Bookstore Hours – Poston Bookstore will be open beginning July 25th from 8-4pm.
Communication – Most communication from Poston will come via email with text message reminders to check your email. You can also join our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Parent Involvement – Poston has a fantastic parent organization named the “Poston Parent Network” or “PPN”. This is a great way to get involved with the great things that happen on campus. Whether you can donate time or money, small or large, they want you. To connect with them, you can email them at postonparentnetwork@gmail.com or their Facebook page.
We look forward to this year!
