3rd Quarter Sports Volleyball and Cross-Country teams started practices. Flag Football will have another day of tryouts on Monday. As a reminder, all students must have a Panther Pass on file to tryout and participate in athletics. Panther Pass (English) Panther Pass (Spanish). Tryouts and practices are closed to spectators per district guidelines. Competitions will begin at the end of January. Remind your student that they must maintain passing grades to be eligible to participate.
SIAC Meeting Tuesday, January 11th at 4:15pm in Room in 911 (portable in the northwest corner of campus). SIAC is Poston’s School Improvement Advisory Committee which is made up of administration, staff, students, and parents. All parents are welcome to attend this meeting.
Peek at Poston Wednesday, January 11th from 6 to 7pm. This event is catered to students who will be new to Poston next year. Parents and students are invited to walk the campus and learn about academic and elective programing, clubs, athletics, and we will provide information for our new academic program that will launch next year, Poston Create. Students who are currently in one of our 6th grade feeder schools received this information. Please share this information with friends, neighbors, and family who don’t live in our boundaries who are interested in finding a great junior high for their student next year.
Registration for 2023-2024 – Its that time of year for registration for next year. The following events will take place:
Poston 7th going into 8th: Poston Counselors will meet with 7th graders during their ELA class on Thursday 1/12. They will receive their course request form for next year. They will turn them in the following Thursday 1/19 in their ELA Class.
Mountain View 8th to 9th: Mountain View Counselors will meet with 8th graders during their ELA class on Thursday 1/12. They will receive their course request form for next year. Students will turn them in the following Friday 1/20 in their ELA Class.
Mesa High 8th to 9th: Students who live in Mesa High boundaries will take a morning trip to Mesa High to attend a step up day. When they return, they will meet with one of Poston’s counselors who will distribute their registration form. Students will turn in their registration forms on Friday 1/20 to Mesa High’s counselors.
Poston AVID Barro’s Night – Thursday, January 12 Purchase pizza at the Barro’s on Gilbert and Brown and Brown and mention that you are with Poston AVID and 20% of the proceeds will go to Poston’s AVID Club.
Yearbooks – Yearbooks are on sale via the bookstore or online. They can be purchased for $30. NOTE: Yearbooks will be delivered to students the last week of school.
