Poston “Create”

Last week, all our 7th grade students were introduced to Poston “Create” in their ELA classes.  They spend the hour talking with Mr. Rapier about how we can recreate and reengage with learning next year through this amazing program.

If you would like to learn more about Poston Create or sign your student up, visit the link under the “Programs” portion of our website https://poston.mpsaz.org/.

Yearbooks – Students who pre-purchased yearbooks may pick them up beginning on Monday, May 22 from the bookstore.  Students attending the PAWS party will be able to pick up their yearbook early at the party.  Remember that students must show their student ID to pick up their yearbook to ensure that the book is distributed to the correct student.

End of the Year PAWS Party – Friday, May 19th from 1:30 to 4:00pm.  The Student Council hosts this event that includes music, concessions, water slides, and a dunk tank.  This will also be the first opportunity for students to pick up their yearbook. This event is open to all students who have passing grades in all their classes (as of 4pm on 5/17) and do not have any office behavior referrals for 4th quarter

Student Council is asking for parent volunteers to help out with the party.  If you are interested, sign up using the following link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b054badab2ca57-paws2#/

End of Year Reminders

Person Items During the PAWS Party – Student attending the PAWS Party will be responsible for their personal items during the party.  There will be a bag check available for students to check in a personal bag.  Any bags (and items in the bag) not checked in will be the sole responsibility of the student.

Academics – Students will participate in learning activities up to and including the last day of

school.  Please plan accordingly.

Computer Check In- on Monday, May 22, all 8th grade students will return their computer and one computer charger to the media center during their Social Studies class.  As a reminder, students have the sole responsibility of the condition of their computer and charger (just as they would a textbook or library book).  7th grade students will keep their computer over the summer to use for next year. If your 7th grade student will not be returning to Poston next year, please have them turn in their computer during their Social Studies class on Monday, May 22nd

Nuisance Items – As the year comes to a close, we ask students to keep all items that may cause disruption to the school day at home. Please talk with your student to remind them about following school rules and leaving things such as squirt guns, water balloons, silly string, etc.  Those items will be confiscated for parent pick up.  Your students will be subject to consequences for bringing/using such items.

Bags during the last week of school – students may bring a bag to carry their personal and school related items.  On the last two days of school, students will be stopped at the gates into campus and asked to open their bag and show us the bottom of the bag to ensure that nuisance items are left at home.

Items that need to be returned – Reminder that all school property, checked out to students, must be returned to the school by Thursday, May 25th.  This includes library books, dress code clothing, athletic jerseys and uniforms, textbooks, computers, computer chargers.  If not returned, your student’s account will be charge for the replacement cost.  Student accounts roll over from year to year and school to school.  We appreciate your cooperation in advance.
